Feel free to reach out with any additional questions, or ask during your session. Here are a few of the most commonly asked questions.
Does acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are fine hair-thin stainless steel filaments, which are sterilized one-time use and sealed prior to use. Patients may feel a slight pinch as the needle goes through the surface of the skin, an electric current sensation as circulation is enhanced, as well as a sense of dull achy heaviness, which many report as pleasant and relaxing. These sensations are a part of the mechanisms of acupuncture therapy and signify a positive effect, as well as the parasympathetic response.
How long are sessions?
Sessions can be anywhere between 20 minutes to an hour, depending on what a patient is coming in for. A session may include acupuncture, massage therapy, qi gong, cranial sacral, and/or other services depending on the individual's needs on a given day.
How many sessions do you recommend?
This will depend on your individual constitution, whether there are any recalcitrant conditions, or how much change you want to embark upon. In Ancient China, providers were paid to keep a community well. Chronic conditions will benefit most from regular care to promote wellbeing and circulation. Acute situations may only require 4-6 sessions, or 15-20, depending on your immune system, individual genetic makeup, and lifestyle factors. Facial rejuvenation packages start at 15 sessions in order to create a visible natural enhancing effect.
